Why did you start blogging? & Why have you kept blogging?
I started blogging around mid-September in 2016. I’ve been reading lots of books that year compared to the previous years, and since a lot of the books are very enjoyable, I needed to talk about it…except, I didn’t know where. I had no idea about the existence of Goodreads during that time, so a thought to start my own blog crossed my mind instead. And, there you have it…I started blogging because I wanted to share my thoughts about the books I’d read and talk about it a lot more.
As for the reason why I’ve kept blogging, well…I love reading books and love writing reviews and then sharing it with everyone. Also, another reason is because the blogging and book community on this platform are so kind and supportive. Lots of bloggers on this platform inspired me, and I even learned something about this whole blogging world from some of them and they are really helpful. Overall, I’m just so grateful to be a part of this amazing community.
To be honest, around July last year I did want to shut down my blog and just stop blogging altogether. I was deep in my anxiety and depression and it was the worst time of my life. It affected all the things I love doing, including blogging. I didn’t blog a lot and I deleted all my blog posts from 2016 to July 2019. I took a break from social media for a month and a half because I was dealing with my mental health. I did thought about shutting down my blog but then thinking about leaving this amazing community saddens me. Thinking about what will happen if I want to talk more about books and then I don’t have a blog anymore only made me feel a lot worse. So I ended up deleting my blog posts and changed my blog theme instead of deleting my blog. My love for books and this community are the reasons why I’m still blogging today.
What is your favorite type of blog post to write?
This is harder than I thought. I can’t exactly choose, but if I have to, then it will be between writing a book review post and writing about the list of upcoming books I’m looking forward to.
What are your top three favorite blog posts you wrote?
[REVIEW] KING OF THE SOUTH BY CALIA READ → this is one of my top favorite book this year, and I have a massive love for this book. The story is by far the most memorable Historical Romance story I ever read, and writing a review of this book took me like 5 days to be able to finished it. I’ve put a lot of thoughts into my review and to me, a book as phenomenal as this truly deserve an exquisite review, so I tried making it as best as I can and I hope a lot of people will love it.
MY MOST ANTICIPATED FANTASY BOOKS OF 2020 → putting a list of upcoming Fantasy books I’m looking forward to read was fun to write. Fantasy is my top favorite genre, it’s the genre that will always have a special place in my heart. When I decided to write this post, I was so excited about it.
[BLOG TOUR+REVIEW] GLOW OF THE FIREFLIES BY LINDSEY DUGA → this was one of my top favorite Fantasy book last year for a lot of reasons, and this post marked my first time to ever joined a blog tour organized by FFBC hence the reason why this post is one of my top favorite post I’ve written. When I signed-up for this tour, I was nervous but then happy when I received an email stating that I was selected for the tour. The FFBC have been organizing lots of amazing tours for years and I’m so grateful to be a part of their team.
What are some of your favorite things to do to relax?
Reading is one of my favorite (obviously), but I also do yoga a lot at home to help me relax, and lastly…listening to ambient music. Ambient music is the most relaxing musical genre in my opinion, and every time I listen to it the music brings me peace. If you want to listen to it or want to know what type of musical genre it is, then I already made a playlist for it, here’s the link: Ambient Music for healing by Deekay Pg.K
What are three of your favorite things?
Books, plants, and sunset (does it count?)
What are your proudest blogging moments?
Posting my first ever blog post because nothing can beat that feeling, it was as if I’m finally becoming a blogger after posting my introduction post (I deleted the post already as I already explained earlier). Another thing was when I tried my luck by requesting ARCs (Advanced Review Copies) on both NetGalley and Edelweiss, and then got my requests approved…I was so happy and so proud of myself because of how far I’ve come as a blogger. Lastly, simple comments from other bloggers such as, “I love your post,” “Great review,” and “Nice post,” these simple comments made me so happy and proud because I just couldn’t believe that there are people who actually enjoy reading my post and find it interesting. Little things like that warms my heart.
What are your hobbies outside of blogging?
Does reading count? I mean, outside of blogging I’m basically reading. Also cooking, doing a home workout and yoga, photography, and playing with my cat.
Describe your personality in three words
Introverted, idealistic, reserved.
What are your top three pet peeves?
• When people keep on talking and trying to make a conversation with me while I’m eating.
• When people chew their food too loud. I can’t stand the sound and it usually irritates me.
• When people borrowed my stuff and they forgot to return it back to me or misplaced it.
What something your followers don’t know about you?
Not only my followers doesn’t know these two things about me, but also those who went to high school with me doesn’t know these too.
When I was in elementary, I joined the school band for two years in a row and my position was playing one of the musical instrument and I ended up playing a lyre xylophone. Lastly, in my final year of elementary, I participated in a chess competition. I was replacing my classmate because she was absent that day but thankfully, my dad taught me how to play chess since I was like 7 or 8. Despite not winning anything because I was unprepared and it was a last minute decision to replaced my classmate with me, it was a fun experience actually.
